Naval engineer from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, Peru (1999), M.Sc. (2004) and  D.Sc. (2010) in Ocean Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Post-doctorate fellow at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, Portugal (2017-2018). Conducts research in hydrodynamics of ships and offshore platforms, and in marine renewable energy. Member of the research group of the Laboratory of Ocean Technology (LabOceano) of COPPE-UFRJ. Chairman of the Ocean Engineering Committee of the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC) and member of the Brazilian delegation of the Intersessional Correspondence Group on Intact Stability of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
