Has a master’s degree in industrial engineering – Institut Superieur Industriel de Bruxelles (2000) and PhD in Applied Sciences from the University of Liege (2010). He is currently the head of the Ocean Engineering Program in Ocean Engineering (PEnO) and professor of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), acting in the Maritime Transport Area of Ocean Engineering Program of the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering (COPPE). He has experience in the field of design and production optimization of ships and offshore structures. He published about 100 research papers and articles in journals and conferences. Speaker at international conferences in Belgium, Brazil, China, Germany, UK, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Peru, Taiwan, USA and Panama. He is the editor in chief of the Marine Systems & Ocean Technology Journal (MSOT-SPINGER). Has been chairman of the Specialist Committee V.3 (Material and Fabrication Technology) of the International Ship & Offshore Structures Congress (ISSC 2015).
