Graduated in Bachelor of Nautical Sciences (Marine Engineering), by the Brazilian Merchant Marine Academy (Brazilian Navy, 1985) and in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, by the Polytechnic School (EP, 1992) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He holds the degrees of Master (1996) and Doctor (2003) in Science in Ocean Engineering from the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering (COPPE/UFRJ). He is currently a professor at the Department of Naval and Ocean Engineering of EP/UFRJ, having experience in R&D projects in marine propulsion systems. He is the Head of the UFRJ Nautical Centre, and his work is focused on motorboat and yacht design with particular emphasis on boatbuilding methods related to thermoset and thermoplastic materials.
