The Literacy Project aims to support employees of UFRJ and the population living around Ilha do Fundão who did not have the opportunity to complete elementary school and also provide a more solid base for people on a long-term formal education. The 3-year course has already taught more than 200 students. It consists of the basic, intermediate and advanced levels. Teachers are undergraduate students at UFRJ from different areas of knowledge.
